  1. 1. Some people say that you should not give milk away on May Day. It is said whoever you would give the milk to would bring your butter until that day twelvemonth.
    2. In the country the old people used to put ashes or a coal under the churn in order to help gather the butter.
    3. If you washed your face in the dew on May morning before the sun would rise you would not get sunburnt all the year.
    4. Whatever door a person entered a house he had to go out the same door. If not he would be almost certain to go astray on his way home.
    5. It is said that the cattle snuff the grass on May Morning because the grass is “infested with spirits” and they snuff it three times to banish them away.
    New Year’s Day Customs:
    It is an old custom at some people on New Year’s Day not to go in to another house until a fellow with dark hair would go in first. It is said that he is luckier than a girl or fellow
