- Long ago the people were very different to the people now. They then had very different food in use. At the time of the famine the old people had to eat tallow, horses, and dogs.
At other times they used to eat yellow bread, and sour milk. With this food men were much better and healthier; that food is very good and strong. At other times the potato, with salt, was their food; and also sour milk which was very healthy. So the people were better men and women then.
