There was an old man who lived in a house in Clare.

There was an old man who lived in a house in blare. He was going out one evening hunting and he had three dogs with him. He was coming near a wood and he heard the bean-side crying. He did not know what it was and he stopped for a while but she was crying all the time. After a time he went up to the wood and he saw the bean-side sitting on a wall and she had a white shawl hanging behind her. The man stole up behind her and he saluted her. She did not say anything but when he turned round she had disappeared. When he was coming home that night he had to pass a fort where he saw fairies playing and he stopped there for a while. When he was going away they all disappeared.
