- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)know to explore the passages and cave of the forts for superstitious reasons and to have brought back the “secret” of what is in them. A landlord is supposed to have offered a farm to any man who would descend and bring back details of the secret of the fort. An upright stone, about five feet high is situated on the lands of a Mr John Faulkner, Lissanymor about two miles from the school. On the edges of the stone are horizontal markings. The story in the district is that these are finger-prints of a giant. People speak of passages and caves in the forts but more actually exist.
