- People of long ago held pattern dances at the cross-roads, They used to light fires and dance around for hours.Sometimes they held surprise parties in neighbour houses. It was played exactly as it is nowadays, but the word they called it was "Commons".In days gone by this district was a great centre for horse-racing, They started off from Bellahillan Bridge and journeyed round Marahill, and the other townland's. When tired they returned to the same - spot.
