  1. There was a house down in Carne where a lot of cows were kept, and a lot of butter was made. The occupants were very prosperous with their cows and they supplied a lot of poor people with milk, as they were very good even though rich. They used to keep their cream in crocks all around the dairy on a big flag floor.
    The time had come to churn the cream, so they put the horse to the churn, as they used to churn with a horse that time; by driving the horse around in a ring in the yard. They churned for half a day and could get no butter, so weary and annoyed
