  1. Forge of 1798
    There was a forge in Horetown in which a black-smith made pikes for the Irish in 1798. His name was John Fitzcharris. One day a spy told the English what he was making. They surrounded the forge, but he heard them coming. He hid the pikes. There was about three dozen pikes. He put them in a tub of water. Then he started shoeing a horse. The English searched the forge but they found nothing.
