  1. Hatching hen eggs.
    When people want chickens they get a clutch of eggs from some one who has a good breed. It is a custom to take money for eggs even if it was only a penny. They say if you dont there will be no luck on either sides. It is a custom also in this district to give a clutch of eggs and charge for them and if the person has no birds give them another clutch free.
    This is how they are set. A comfortable nest is made with straw and the eggs are set on the straw. The hen is put on the eggs and covered well in case of hens going in to lay in the nest and they might break the hatching eggs.
