  1. Some oat meal is put in a basin. Hot water is poured in slowly and the mixture is well worked. It is a hard job to get the cake to stick together. It is made round and flattened out, the thinner the better. A special stand is used for baking it before the fire. It was a tin of a round shape and stood upright with two legs in front and a long one behind like a photo frame.
    We have an oaten bread stand at home.
