  1. There was once a man, who had two children. When they were young their mother died, so he married again. One day they were so poor that they had not a penny. The father and mother made up their minds, to bring them to the wood and leave them there. They left them in it, and came home. The two children came to a sugarstick house and they began to pick the sugarstick. A witch who was inside began to say, "Nibble nibble little mouse, who the mischief is at my house.?" They began to eat again, and the witch said the same thing. Then the witch came out, and put the boy in a cage. When the witch would ask the boy to show his finger, he would show her a bone. One morning the witch asked the girl to get into an oven. The girl told her, to get in first, and when she got her in she put on the lid. Then she lot out the boy and lived happy ever after.
