   We sow one and a half acres of potatoes,and my father prepares the soil,they first open the drills and plant the potatoes,they next throw earth lightly over them ,this is called "pinching".farm yard manure is the spread thickly over the drills ,which are closed in with an iron plough.In a few days afterwards when they are closed,they are knocked.They are left then until the stalks appear when softened with a scuffler ,and later when the stalks are high they ate landed with a plough.The last process is spraying with a mixture of blue stone and washing soda to prevent blight.They are then left to grow,and ripen and are dug up and pitted in the month of October. Pits are made by digging into the earth ,the potatoes are then put in and covered with ferns ,and then clay and last of all thatched with straw .We sow Kerrspinks and Irish Queens,we consider Kerrspinks the best table potatoes.Potatoes when cut are called "scioláns" and the shoots are "peacks".Timber ploughs are still used in bog gardens .Potatoes are left in
