  1. Local Ruins - Ballyquirke Castle

    Another Castle in this Parish belonging to the O'Kennedys' is called Ballyquirke Castle. It is situated in a field now owned by Miss Watson, and is about two and a half miles from Lorrha village. It is a square castle in good preservation. Its walls are seven feet in thickness at the base and the building is four stories high. The doorway, which is pointed and constructed of cut limestone, is on the north wall, and the staircase leads through thickness of the wall to the top of the castle.
