- Almighty God created the birds to gladden the hearts of young and old to brighten the woods and forests in the country with their gay plumage, and to be of use to man by destroying the pests which would cause havoc to fruit and crops.
Birds found locally are the robin, wren and thrush and several others. The robin is everybody's favourite because he is the friendliest of all and comes to the door for food. He then alights on a bush nearby and sings a sweet song to show his gratitude. He builds his nest in a low bush with moss, hair and feathers. She lays four or five speckled eggs.
The wren is not a favourite because he does not come near the house but lives in the hedgerows where he builds a comfortable nest and his mate lays twenty eggs. He is the smallest of all birds and is of a brown colour.
The thrush is a great songster and he lives in our countryside and gladdens us with his song in Spring-time(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
