   A little girl on her way to school each morning had to pass by a fort. One morning an old woman came out of the fort as the little girl was going by and invited her in. The little girl spent the day pleasantly with her and the next day and the next day also. When her parents heard she wasn't at school, they inquired of her as to where she passed the time and the little girl told them. Her mother put her up to ask the old woman of the fort for a cure for a sick calf, on the next occasion she would be taken in. The following day the old woman tool her in as usual and the little girl asked her for the cure as her mother had instructed her. "Wash it in its own water" said the old woman. When the little girl came home that evening she gave her mother the cure and the mother said "what's good for the beast is good for the Christian" and treated her child as the old woman had recommended for the calf. From that day on the old woman of the fort had no power over the little girl.
