- There is no story which deals with strange animals in my district, but i have got a little information about one in the adjoining townland, which is situated in the parish of Stonehall.
The animal used to appear frequently on the road between Curragh cross and Cronans gap. Mr Cronon, who has departed this life, resided a hundred yards from this gap. The animal was of a huge size and appeared in the shape of a black dog. In former years, a man one night was passing this road on his journey to Croagh. His way for travelling was on a horse and cart. Just between Curragh and the gap mentioned, this animal jumped on the horse's back, and drops of perspiration fell from the horse's back(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
