   When Our Lord was hanging on the Cross the robin came and tried to pull the nails out of Our Lord's Hands; and the blood fell on its breast; and from that day the robin's breast is red.
   There is another story told.
   When Our Lord was carrying the Cross, He was bleeding, and drops of blood fell on the ground, and the robin came and licked the drops of blood. It is always noticed, that when the cuckoo is flying there is always a little bird flying after it. It is said, that the cuckoo is after laying an egg in the small bird's nest; and that it is angry with the cuckoo.
