    There are not many travelling people going around now, except a few women who call occasionally from the town of Kanturk. These sell pieces of china and glass ware, and other small articles and return to the lodgings in the town for the night.
    Families of tinkers come to the village from time to time with caravans, drawn by ponies or donkeys, but do not delay long.
    The women are great "cravers" and the village people do not welcome them. Some of the travelling persons who used to call long ago were :- Jerry the Sweep, Phil Ryan a cobbler from Tipperary, Paddy Carberry and Eliza Maguire
