  1. There is a story told of a married couple who lived in this district many years ago. They were young and an extremely handsome pair and were very devoted to each other. It was said of them as the months and years after their marriage passed by, that if anything were to happen to one the trouble of it would break the heart of the other. They were married three years when the husband hired masons and began to build a large outhouse. The walls of the new were about five feet high when things commenced to go wrong. One morning a fine black mare was found with a broken leg and had to be shot. Three days later the two best milkers in the herd were found dead.
