- A drowning occurred on Sunday, July 25th, 1937, in Dunmanus Bay. Peter O'Driscoll of Rathrawan and two others were crossing Dunmanus Bay in a sailing boat from Ahasicta to Dunbeacon on Sunday July 25th, 1937. On their way about a mile from Dunbeacon the top of the mast broke. One of them climbed up to fix the mast, and the boat overturned. Patrick Foley, was standing at his own door. He saw a dark object in the water. He was thinking that it was a boat that had overturned so he called his two sons. They went to the place. One man, Peter O'Driscoll, was drowned, and the other two lives were saved.
