- To cure whooping cough two cures used to be used. They used to get a snail, and put it on a pot and boil it with sugar, and give the water to drink the sick person. The other was the leavings of a ferret. Soot was the cure for burns, and penny leaf was the cure for bad cuts.
Nettles were used for pain in the arms or legs, but besom was mostly used. The people used to hit their legs with nettles and burn pains out of them. They used to drink besom; it is very sour. Bainne cíche na n-éan was used for ringworm.- Bailitheoir
