Ar an leathanach seo

  1. We have a churn at home. It is composed of a stand and barrel, the lid, handle and cork. The stand, which is made of wood is about two and a half feet high. The sides of the barrel are round in shape and at each side is an axle, which fits into a groove in the stand, and is then twisted by means of an iron handle.
    The butter is made once a week in Summer, and in Winter it is made once a fortnight. My mother generally does the churning and sometimes, when strangers visit the house, during the churning time, "They say "God bless the Work", and then they help with the churning. And when the churn is made, a basin of buttermilk is handed to the visitor, who says "God increase your store" in butter and milk.
