- In the year 1916 the old I.R.A. ambushed the "Black and Tans" at Kilmichael. They sent a false letter to Dublin telling them that a certain man from Coppeen wanted them. The British had to pass Kilmichael to go to Coppeen. The I.R.A. made preparations. They set a bomb under a bridge there.
When the "Tans" came the bomb exploded and a lorry of them were blown up. They were all shocked. Then the I.R.A. attacked them with their guns. Three of the I.R.A. were shot. Deasy O'Suillivan and McCarthy.
One of the "Tans" escaped and proceeded to go for help but luckily they were shot at Macroom. If the other "Tans" had come out of all in the neighbourhood would be destroyed.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
