- Long ago people had no bread like they have now. They always ground their own wheat in the querns. Those were two stones which were worked with the hand and those ground or crushed the wheat into flour. People remember the querns as they were plentiful long ago but are seen scarcely any where now. They had different kinds of bread, potato Cakes, Staimpí, pancakes and Boxty Bread Staimpí.
First the potatoes were boiled and when they were boiled they were grated or rubbed on a piece of tin with holes pierced through it. When this was done they were put into a dish and wet with milk and mixed with flour. It was then put into a griddle to bake(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Bailitheoir
