Story
“Annie Walsh's grandmother, Peggy Gallagher (Annie is a girl of about 26 years and lives in Townalaura, Boyle) was going to her sister's one night..”
Annie Walsh's grandmother, Peggie Gallagher (Annie is a girl of about 26 years and live in Townalaura, Boyle) was going to her sister's one night for a white cap to wear at a wake that night. In her time white caps used be worn in the houses by the older women. She got the cap, and on her way back she encountered a band of men engaged in a fight. She heard: "Give me my cap." Then she got a slap on the jaw that turned her face sideways. When she got home the cap was missing. She felt ill, and had to go to bed. The priest heard of it, and he came and cured the woman, and on the very next day she got up, went out, and found her cap, snowwhite and clean, sitting on a craicnin in front of the house.- Bailitheoir
