Ar an leathanach seo

  1. Pancake Tuesday owes its origin to the fact that in the early ages of the Church people took pancakes to the Church and ate them while they were waiting to be shrived.
Since that time people continue the custom of making pancakes on Shrove Tuesday or the Tuesday before Ash Wednesday. Children have a rhyme which they sing on that day.
'Pancake Tuesday is a very happy day,
If you don't give us holiday,
    We'll all run away'
People put primroses on the doorsteps on the eve of May day to let the good fairies play on them, or to keep the bad fairies out.
