If a person had a sty in his eye, he used to point a thorn of a gooseberry bush to the eye each day for nine days. Each day a different thorn was applied to the sty, and on the tenth day, the thorns were thrown away. Warts.
Vinegar and ivory are a cure for warts. Both are put into a bottle and corked and buried in the ground for nine days. At the end of this time, the ivory will be melted.
