At last he put his old mother up on a tree and told her to say "cuckoo, cuckoo" for part of the bargain was that he should pay Dómhnall his wages when the cuckoo came. They were sitting in the kitchen, when they heard the cuckoo on the tree. Dómhnall said it was a queer time of the year for the cuckoo to come, so he said he would go out and see what it was. He took out his master's gun and shot the old cuckoo. When the boss heard the shot he ran out, and there he saw his
