- This is the name of a headland which stretches far out into the sea. It is also called Lonadoon Point. It lies about half-way between Enniscrone and Easkey. It is said tht every Captain of a ship salutes that point as he passes it. In the olden times they used to lower the sail passing that point.
A story is told of the way this headland got its Irish name. There was a man who was very poor, living near that place, and he was very badly off for a horse, his own having died.
One day he was walking along the shore and he saw a nag grazing there. He saw her there every day for about a week.
As he was as hard up for an animal to do the work, he made up his mind that he would catch her and work her for a few days, and give her to the owner when he would come for her.(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
