- There is the ruins of an old castle in a field belonging to Michael Tracey. It is in this was the story originated. There was a man living in Clough named Paddy Byrene long, long ago. He used to go to England every year to work for a lord called Lord Robert Grey. One year he had not enough money to buy a ticket so he stayed at home. The landlord ordered him to pay his rent or he would evict him. Paddy had living in his house his wife and a servant boy called Mick O Connor. They had nothing on the farm except a stand of oats. Himself and his boy threshed the oats and sacked it for going to the market in Galway. He started at mid-night and was just going in near Galway when he met a gentleman on horse-back "Good day Paddy" said the man "Good-day your honour" said Paddy, "Have you(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)
