   The Mill
   It is not more than sixty years since our useful little mill ceased to grind the grain whcih the industries and hard working farmers of ancient times produced. This mill was situated in a very cosy shot on the south eastern side of a high hill which prevented north western winds from destroying anything at d the mill. It was built by a man of the name of the Pat Gallagher who was locally known as Pat the Miller. There was a kiln built at the same time for the purpose of drying the oats before it was ground as oats was the chief grain which was ground there. When a man brought oats to the mill he had to bring turf also to light a fire in the kiln for the purpose of drying and loosening the hulls on the oats before grinding it. The person who brought the oats had to dry it but the miller and his ground it. There is a river about one hundred yards from the ruins of the mill and it was the power of its water that turned the grind stones in the mill. There was a "mill race" from the mill to the river and it was in it that the water was convey to the mill wheel and allowed to go into a small stream which was running by the mill and which eventually ran
