- (ar lean ón leathanach roimhe)goods were given in exchange for goods. Labour was also given. The words used in buying and selling were "Tick". If a person was buying something from another and had not the money to pay him at hand he would give it to him later. This was called "tick". "Luck Money" was another word used when a man sold a cow and she was very dear. He would give the man he was selling her to seven shillings and sixpence as "luck money".
"Into Pocket" was used when a man sold a cow and would not give anything back. Monday was the day that these things were carried on.
The different names for coins were, the "tanner" for a sixpence. A "bob" for a shilling. A "Quird" or "banker" for a pound. A "make" for a halfpenny and a wing for a penny. Coins that were used long ago and not used now were the Sovereign, the four-shilling(leanann ar an chéad leathanach eile)- Faisnéiseoir
