    Long ago when there were no creameries, the people made the butter in their houses. They used a churn which was a round four feet in height, and about eighteen inches in circumference. It was fairly wide in the bottom, and not so wide at the top.
    There is a hole in the top and there is a long stick out of it, called the churn staff. This they used work up and down until the butter was
