  1. In olden times when there were no such things as gas, or lamps or electric light, or anything like the light we enjoy at the present day, the people made candles at their homes. They called these "Padogs." They were made from the fat of animals. They got pieces of cotton thread for a wick and they twisted these together and they put it through the middle of the mould leaving a little bit
