    Oaten meal bread, Potato cake, Boxty bread and bread made from some wheat and some oaten meal, and a very small portions of flour mixed together and wet with boiling water are the kinds of bread which were made long ago. People remember grind stones being used. Oaten meal bread was made from oaten meal wet with boiling water and mixed well and then made into a cake about a quarter of an inch thick and baked in a shallow tin a little larger than the cake of oaten bread.
