  2. Thistles, Red Shanks, Rag weed, Nettles are the herbs growing on our farm at home. Some of these herbs are harmful because they impoverish the soil and much more manure is required in the field where some of these herbs grow the next year the farmer plants his crop in that field than would be required if these herbs were not growing. Rag Weeds only grow where the land is good. Red Shanks and Nettles only grow where the land is bad. Some people boil nettle roots and drink the water in which the nettle roots are boiled to cure measles
