My Grand-father was the only man in my district to have a cart and a horse. He got the job of carting the clay and stones to Tuneymore Lough. The stuff which was cut away was dumped near Tuneymore Castle, where there was a lake which is now only marsh because it has been drained. They were making the Tunnel for two years. It is not really a tunnel because it is open at the top.
