    An extensive farmer lived in Ballyfinn about fifty years ago. I knew his sons and at least one of them still lives in Ferns. He had a stroke of bad luck with his cattle. Day after day some of them died. One member of the family saw a small black bull which did not belong to them enter one of the houses and followed him. On entering the house no trace of that strange visitor could be seen. A few moments later another beast was found dead. That happened day after day until at last the owner disposed of his interest in the place and went
