    About five years ago a crowd of wren boys from Leitrim came to our district. They were gathering the wren money for a poor widow whose one cow had died. They were so well received when their mission became known, that they not only were able to buy a good cow for the widow but they had also a five pound note to hand her as well.
    Sometimes the wren boys hold a spree in some hall or barn with the money they collect on Saint Stephen's Day.
