    the people.
John Clarke, Derryhaun used to weave and spin. He used to weave blankets from the wool of the sheep, and he used to weave sheets from flax.
Pat Fallon, Carrastrawley was a great thatcher. He used to thatch with wheaten straw and scallops.
There was an old forge in Aughavaden about sixty years ago belonging to the late Patrick Kennedy. Not a stone of the forge is there now. They were drawn away to build new houses. He used to shoe horses, make ploughs, gates, and harrows. He used an anvil, hammers, pincers, and sledge.
There is another old forge now disused in Lanesboro belonging to the late Patrick Mc. Guinness. It was closed up about seventeen years ago. The roof was blown off one windy night.
