There is a great song about "The Black-And-Tans" when they were in Lismacmanus. There is a rhyme about every person in the townland in the poem. It is nearly forgotten now. - Aughaloughin is my Home District.
Aughaloughin got its name from a pond which is in our field, called the Loughan. Long ago the ducks used to swim on this pond. Farrell is the name most commonly known. There are four families in Aughaloughin. All the houses are thatched. There is no person over seventy years in Aughaloughin. Several people have emigrated to America out of Aughaloughin. The land is level, and rich in Aughaloughin.- Collector
