- An old gentleman named White lived in Fermoyle in a big house called the "Six Chimneys" over one hundred years ago. He had one child and there was a monkey in the house. The man and his wife went to the Turlough races, which is about half a mile from them. They left the monkey to mind the child.
He went up to the top of one of the high chimneys to see the races. Mr White saw him from the Turlough and he went home quickly. The monkey let the child fall down and she was killed and no one ever lived there since and it is said that a light was seen there.
The house is in the land of Patrick Rhatigan, Fermoyle, Lanesboro. Nothing(continues on next page)- Collector
