- There are fairy forts in the school district. They are called forts and caves. There is a mound of earth around each. There was a entrance hole but it is closed in now there is a bush over it called the "lone bush".A man living near the fort in Ballinara was cutting down a whitethorn bush from the fort, when a stone struck the saw in his hand. He got frightened and on lifting the stone it burned his hand severely and he went home. He never interfered with the fort again. People are supposed to have heard music and dancing in the forts, and to have seen people like little dwarfts dressed in red in them.People heard a blacksmith hammering the anvil in the fort at Cooldorragh. Music was heard in the fort at Laaca. Faries are supposed to ride around these forts on horses during the night. In old times black cats were seen in them.
