married in the night. These were called run away marriages.
The girls had to wear a black bonnet after the wedding to show they were married.
They went home on side cars. They did not go anywhere on their honey moon.
Band beggars would gather around the door of the bride's house on the wedding night playing horns and bugles made out of bottles or tins.
This is what is said about the lucky day to get married.
    Monday for health
    Tuesday for wealth
Wednesday the best day of all
    Thursday for losses
    Friday for crosses
