    the bride would come home with her husband in his jaunting car. The bride and bridegroom sat on one side, and the best man and bridesmaid on the other side and the driver sat on the "Dickey". The rest of the wedding party followed them on jaunting cars too. When the bride and bridegroom were leaving the Church after being married, some of the people present threw an old shoe after them as it was supposed to bring luck to them. Up to the present day it is the custom to throw confetti. It was lucky for the bride to wear something old, something new, something borrowed and something blue. There was no such thing as going away to the city or town on a honeymoon long ago. Long ago when the people got married , after the breakfast the bride used to walk across a besom for good luck. About one hundred years ago most of the girls used to go out in a field and bring a little ball of wool and throw it into a lime kiln and then they were supposed to marry the man that would get the ball of wool and bring it into the girl's house.
