  1. Long ago there were a lot of low thatched houses in the district. The chimneys were made of mortar and stones and in some houses there were holes in the roofs for chimneys. The half doors were very common at that time and they were called hatch doors. The old houses had a settle-bed in the kitchen and in some houses they are to be seen to this day.
