  1. There is a tree near Clonmellon called the 'nailers bush'. It is so called because a nail maker used to live beside the bush. The tree is on the main road from (Mícéal Ó Cle) Clonmellon to Kells. It is about a half-mile from Clonmellon. It can get no information as to the name of the nailer.

  2. Some people say that it is unlucky to get married on any day in the week except on Wednesdays. It is often said that if a person gets married during Lent he will always be unlucky.
Money is usually given as a dowry. No people remember marriages taking place in the houses.
