    and a good Gaelic scholar. He endeavoured to to interest his scholars in Gaelic poetry and literature. To him and a famous scribe in the Forkhill district Art Bennett may be given the credit of saving for the present generation the poems of Mac Cooey, O Durnin etc.
    It was something historical as it was the last of the old bardic schools Irish was the only subject taught in this school.
