- We have cows, sheep, calves, and a bull, and a pony. The names of the cows, the polly cow, the speckled cow, the cow with the spot in her side. The cows are tied with a chain fastened to a post and the chains tied round their necks. Palm is hung over the door of the cowhouse. Before the first milk is taken from the cow the hair is burned off her udder with a blessed candle.
