  1. (continued from previous page)
made him no answer. Then he said no more for a long time and he said a second time to her that the pot was boiling a long time and she said that it was all right. Then after a long time again the man spoke to her a third time and he said to her if it was stones that was in it they should be boiled by now and she said to him "My soul to glory you are a droll man you guessed what was in the pot", Then she told the man what she was after doing for the children and that they are asleep since. Then the man told her to take the lid off the pot and see were they boiled and she said they could not be. But however she took the lid and she got a terrible fright for it was full of meat and cabbage. Then she thanked God for all the good turn that was done for her and her children. Then she looked around to thank the man and he was gone for it was supposed to be a messenger from God.
