  1. Weather lore from observations of heavenly bodies.
    Many beliefs are observed with regard to the weather in the district and by observation of the various signs in the sky and the heavenly bodies we are able to foretell the kind of weather in store for us and the changes in the atmospheric conditions.
    At the approach of rain the sky has a grey appearance, overcast with thick dark masses of clouds, the sun is obscured from view and in vain we search for its genial rays. It is late in rising, and when it shows its face above the dull masses of clouds, it appears quite pale as if it had lost some of its warm rays. On the other hand, should it rise like a ball of fire in the eastern horizon, casting a crimson glow over the dome of heaven, we know that a warm day is in store. Soon it casts its warm glow over the earth, reigning as king over all. In the evening he sinks to rest in a cradle of golden clouds in the west, and as he goes below the horizon, he leaves a red scar in the sky
